URL Redirect RecordThese records are a type of record that you may create by using the Advanced Configuration link on the host name of your choice within the URL & DNS Control Center.
These records are used to redirect a given URL to another web address (usually your current web site). URL Redirect Records provide an easy way to give your current site (which may be hosted at a free provider, or using your current ISP) a better web address without having to move the site.
Behind the scenes, Sitelutions manages DNS A Records to point your host/domain name to our redundant servers. When your URL is "hit," our servers detect that the hit is coming into your site, looks up where to send the user to, and instantly redirects the user. This is all done transparently and instantly.
IMPORTANT: A Records take priority -- if you create A records within our system, any active redirect records will be ignored. You must remove active A records if you plan to use redirection. |
